Sno Caps History

Sno Caps is a brand of candy-coated chocolate discs that are typically topped with small white nonpareil sprinkles. Here's a brief history of Sno Caps:

Sno Caps candy was introduced in the United States in the 1920s by the Blumenthal Brothers Chocolate Company. The candy was initially known as "Nonpareils," referring to the small white sprinkles that cover the chocolate discs. The name was later changed to "Sno Caps" to make it more memorable and distinctive.

The name "Sno Caps" is a play on words, combining the term "snow caps" with the word "Sno" to emphasize the snowy appearance of the white sprinkles on the chocolate discs.

Sno Caps are made using a process called panning. The panning process involves repeatedly coating a small chocolate center with layers of colored sugar or candy coating until the desired size and thickness are achieved. The final step involves adding the white nonpareil sprinkles to the coated chocolate discs.

The combination of the smooth chocolate and the crunchy, sweet sprinkles creates a unique texture and taste experience for Sno Caps consumers.

Sno Caps have been a popular choice for moviegoers and theater candy enthusiasts. The small size and individual packaging make them convenient for snacking while enjoying a film.

The brand has changed ownership over the years. In the late 1950s, the Blumenthal Brothers Chocolate Company was acquired by the Terson Company, and eventually, Terson was acquired by Nestlé in the 1980s.

Today, Sno Caps continue to be manufactured and distributed by Nestlé. They are available in various retail locations, including movie theaters, supermarkets, convenience stores, and online retailers.

Sno Caps' distinct appearance and combination of flavors have made them a recognizable and beloved candy treat for chocolate and sprinkle enthusiasts for decades.

The history of Sno Caps highlights their enduring appeal as a classic movie theater candy and a favorite choice for chocolate lovers seeking a unique and textured chocolate experience.

Sno Caps Memories

Oh, the memories that Sno Caps bring to mind... Ever since I was a little girl the best thing about going to the movies has been Sno Caps. My best friend has always bought a box of Raisinets, and I've always bought a box of Sno Caps. My sister and my friend's brothers always tease us about it. I've even been known to go to a movie I had no interest in seeing, just so I could get some Sno Caps! My sister once offered to pay for my candy herself if I'd just eat something besides Sno Caps, but I refused. The guy at the candy counter looked at me like I was crazy! I guess he just doesn't appreciate how good dark chocolate and little white sprinkles can really be.

Of course, I'd be crazy if I just gobbled down those delicious candies all in the space of an hour or two. When I was little I couldn't resist that temptation, but now I find myself drawing one box out for days, eating just a few little Sno Caps at a time. The only drawback is when I forget that I've stuffed the box into my purse. Do you have any idea how hard it is to explain to someone why there are sprinkles all over their freshly cleaned kitchen floor because you've dropped your purse? It’s a little bit awkward, to say the least, but people are usually amused in cases like that. And when they’re not, well, sometimes you get lucky and find out that they can be talked into forgiveness with whatever Sno Caps survived the spill!

Anyway, it's so great to see Sno Caps available on your site! I can't find them at any of the stores in town, and a girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do to get her candy. Which, in this case, happens to be prowling the web until finding your site. I can't wait to show this site to my dad, especially; I'll bet he hasn't seen some of these candies since he was in elementary school way back when! ~ Crystal from Texas
