Candy Memories

My memories are from the 70's when I was a little girl. I use to buy red candy shoe strings everyday. I loved French braiding and making necklaces, bracelets. You can't find a penny candy corner store like that anymore. Jody from Pennsylvania
When I was a child I spent my summers on Martha's Vineyard. The Flying Horses, the oldest carousel in the US was there and next door was the penny candy store! The case contained every kind of candy made. I was given 50 cents to procure my treats. I had to chose wisely. Licorice goes quickly so you need Squirrel nuts and Mary Jane's to offset that. Then red hot dollars were 2 for a penny so get a bunch of those. Rock candy, spearmint leaves and orange slices too. Rainbow taffy... The list goes on and on. Oh not to forget red shoe string licorice. That lasted a long time. I was always a happy kid on my walk home on the days I rode the Flying Horses! Dale from New York

THESE WERE A LITTLE DIFFERENT THAN I REMEMBER. THIS CANDY SEEMED A LITTLE THICKER THAN THE OLD ONES WITH A SLIGHT DIFFERENT TASTE. THEY WERE GOOD
