Candy Memories

Mint Juleps were my favorite candy growing up on Long Island (NY). I remember buying them every time I went to the local movie theatre (during the sixties). A pack of about six to eight candies (I can't remember the exact amount) cost a nickel at the Woolworth's store, which was a penny less than they sold them at the movie theatre.
The candies would last a long time so you could eat them throughout the movie (which by the way cost fifty cents at that time). I somehow remember them coming in a waxy wrapping rather than clear plastic, but they certainly tasted great!! Banana splits were my second favorite, yet I rarely bought them if Mint juleps were available!! Although not great on the teeth, I'm happy to see they brought them back! Now if only they could bring back the Hollywood Candy Bar!!! Thanks for listening!! Jeff from New York
When I bite into a chewy mint jumps I am taken back to being 10 years old in 1963. My best neighborhood friend and I used to find this huge teddy bear of a dog from a street over and "escort" him home. The owner always acted like "Donny" had been lost and rewarded us with a quarter. We then made a beeline to a mom and pop store in our neighborhood and bought fifty mint julep candies since they were two for a penny. We then went home to play outside until "the first streetlight came on" and we had to be in for supper! Velva from Virginia

I ordered these along with about 20 other candies to create RETRO candy goody bags for my Dad's 70th. All the candy was fresh (which was my main concern) and yummy. I would most definitely order from here again.
