Candy Memories

I remember Licorice Allsorts as my introduction to licorice as a kid.Every weekend my family went to the Mall and they had a Woolworth's which my family purchased their candy at. My grandfather was a huge fan of licorice allsorts and I have loved licorice since then. My grandparents always kept a rotation of vintage candy in their home and I'm glad they introduced me to the classics candies, they always bring back fond memories. Brad from Florida
When I was much younger, my Grandmother on my Dad's side always had a beautifully decorated tin, that was air-tight, and in it, she stored Licorice All-Sorts. Every time I went over, that's the first thing she'd do - go grab the tin. Somehow, magically, (or so she said *grin*) it was ALWAYS full when she opened it... it wasn't big - held about 1/2 pound of licorice, but by the end of the visit, it'd always be empty. Whether I ate them all or not, I couldn't say for sure, but I will never forget that tin, the sound of it opening, and the delicious smell of licorice that filled the air after it was open. It wasn't until many years later, I was at a store with my daughter who was about 4 at the time, that I'd found a bag of them and realized what they were - I bought 3 bags and shared them with my daughter, who couldn't get enough of them *proud Dad smile*. I'd no idea how expensive they were! I felt bad that I used to eat so much of them at Grandma's, but she didn't mind, she just loved seeing the smile on my face. I miss you Grandma. This one's for you *pops a licorice all-sort in his mouth* <3 Rob from Pennsylvania
