Leaf Confectionery introduced the Rain-Blo gumball in 1940. It was the first gumball with color and flavoring on the inside that matched the color coating on the outside. Rain-Blo also featured a hollow center which was unique to the industry. At the time, two large gumballs could be purchased for a penny.
Rain-Blo Bubble Gum Memories
My favorite memory of Rain-Blo Bubble gum is my youth. Every summer as a child was spent at Grandma's house. The corner store would open up at 9:30am, at 9:31am you would see me walking across the street to buy something. Chips, Soda and 2 packs of Rain-Blo.
Never understood why we liked the candy so much. The flavor only lasted for a little while, but as soon as it would we'd pop another piece of gum in. Now that I look back, every time I get a pack of Rain-Blo, reminds me of the many summers spent at Grandma's House. Sharing Stories and Secrets over Rain-Blo. ~ Shamia from Washington DC
