"candy you ate as a kid" story?
Share it here.I am the mother of two young boys, both of whom love candy. As a matter of fact, my younger son would try to survive on candy if he could. Quite honestly, I was never much of a candy fan as a child; however, there was nothing like riding my bike to the local 7-11 for a slurpee and an opportunity to browse the racks of penny candy jars (this is only 30 some years ago, folks). The freedom of being away from home shopping with my own money was enough for a long time. Then I discovered Zotz. There was something about the combination of hard candy and the fizzy, tangy powder inside that fascinated and delighted me and my younger siblings. We were hooked!
Over the years I thought that Zotz had gone the way of penny candy jars and bike riding to a store alone as a child. Imagine my surprise and delight when one day, a couple of years ago, my children "discovered" Zotz while standing at the ice cream truck with just a few cents in their hands. Not enough for ice cream, but just enough for that string of four Zotz. You would have thought that they discovered the secret of the universe, I was that happy! Now I let them run to the ice cream man every time he's in our neighborhood - always armed with an extra 35 cents for "mom's" Zotz... if only you could bring back double stick root beer popsicles, than all will be right with the world. ~ Lynn from Pennsylvania
