Wrigley's memories... Growing up in the rural
South, church was a very big part of my life and I have such fond
memories of my Sundays spent in my "Sundee best" sitting in the
church and listening to the booming voice of our pastor. By far the
best memory is of a gentleman who always carried Big Red Gum in his
pocket.
After the service and plans had been made to
gather at a particular family's house that afternoon for dinner the
gentleman would call all us kids around and give us each a stick of
Big Red gum often emptying the entire pack.
Many years have passed, but I recently returned
to my childhood stomping grounds and church and enquired after the
man. He passed away a few years back and though I never learned his
name to this day I think of him every time I smell Big Red Gum.
