Twizzlers Memories

I remember as a jr high student I walked to school almost everyday. On the route there was a drug store soda fountain, that also carried candy. My favorite at that time, and still is, was a big bag of strawberry twizzlers. I believe there were twenty or more pieces in a package and it cost a whole twenty cents and worth every penny. I nibbled on my twizzlers for the next two or so blocks, saving the rest for the trip home until the next morning when I bought another bag. Now as an adult my husband and I have vending machines and it is still a very popular candy. ~ Pamela from Iowa

It's sort of simple really. As a kid I hated milk... in fact I still do. Twizzlers became my "bribe." My mother took a novel approach. With every glass of milk I was given a strawberry twizzler (referred to as a strawberry straw). I would nibble off both of the ends and proceed to drink my milk thru the "straw." Sometimes I negotiated a "double straw". Single or double, it worked, to the point where it took me years to acquire the taste of Twizzlers "plain." ~Jim from Connecticut
