Slap Stix Caramel Pop History

The Slap Stix caramel pop actually started in 1920 with the introduction of the Snirkle pop by the Stark Candy Company in Milwaukee. The Snirkle was a caramel pop with a swirl of nougat. Sometime in the 1960s a banana version called a Slap Stix was introduced. Other flavors were tried over the years but today only the banana version remains.

Slap Stix Caramel Pop Memories

When I first started kindergarten I was very shy. A little boy named Chase, in my class was also shy. After the first day or two we started to talk and we sort of came out of our shell. After that we became best friends and Chase would bring me a Slap Stix every day.

I fell in love with that candy and from that point on I called him my 'candy man'. For six years we enjoyed each others company and our Slap Stix, then his family moved away. Last year I went to an elementary reunion and to my surprise, there he was with a Slap Stix in hand. I was so taken aback that I was speechless.

After talking all night we discovered that we were still best friends and we have are going to have dinner Saturday night. Thank you for having the best candy in the world and after Saturday nite--who knows??!! ~ Jeri from Missouri
