When I was younger, my friends and I would go to the county fair. It lasted for seven days and they had several candy carts. The one we went to was always the little cart in the back, they were in the same place every year, and while my friends would get assorted goodies, I was true to my Red Vines Twists. [continued from above] Every summer, I probably ate a couple pounds' worth of my Red Vines Twists in those seven short days. Once I got older, my lovely Red Vines Twists were replaced with another type of red licorice. I didn't like those, they were too hard and tasted horrible. I wanted my Red Vines Twists back, but alas, no store around carried them.

Red Vines History

1914: American Licorice Company is founded in Chicago, IL. Black Licorice Vines® are born.

1920: Classic Raspberry Vines® makes it debut.

1925: American Licorice Company begins West Coast operations in San Francisco, CA.

1925: American Licorice creates a licorice shoe for Charlie Chaplin to chew on in the movie The Gold Rush.

1952: Classic Raspberry Vines is renamed Red Vines.

1983: Red Vines debuts in its now iconic knob-top jar.
