Push Pops History

Push Pops are a popular candy treat that consists of a tube filled with flavored and compressed candy. Here's a brief history of Push Pops:

Push Pops were introduced in the early 1990s by the Topps Company, a well-known American producer of trading cards and confectionery products. The candy was designed to be portable and convenient, allowing consumers to enjoy their favorite flavors on the go.

The concept behind Push Pops was inspired by the idea of creating a mess-free candy that could be easily consumed without the need for wrappers or sticky hands. The candy is housed in a plastic tube with a cap at one end and a push-up mechanism at the other. By pushing up on the bottom of the tube, the candy rises to the top, allowing for easy consumption.

Push Pops were initially released in a variety of fruit flavors, including strawberry, watermelon, and blue raspberry. The bright colors and fruity taste appealed to children and became a hit among candy enthusiasts.

Over the years, the flavors and variations of Push Pops expanded to include other options such as sour flavors, cotton candy, and bubble gum. The candy's versatility and ability to deliver a lasting burst of flavor contributed to its continued popularity.

Push Pops gained recognition through various marketing campaigns, including advertisements targeting children and appearances in popular media. The candy's distinctive packaging and interactive nature made it a sought-after treat for kids.

The Topps Company, the original manufacturer of Push Pops, continues to produce and distribute them today. Push Pops are widely available in many countries, both as standalone candies and as part of assorted candy packages.

The portable and mess-free nature of Push Pops, combined with their range of flavors, has made them a favorite choice for individuals of all ages. Whether as a nostalgic treat or a convenient snack, Push Pops have remained a popular candy option since their introduction, offering a fun and flavorful candy experience.

Push Pops Memories

I remember eating Push Pops as a kid in the early to mid-80's--my sisters & I were not allowed to eat much candy, but we used to receive these in our Christmas stockings—no oranges and apples in the stockings for us.

We would try and eat just a little of each push pop at a time, storing it in its plastic tube with the top over it the rest of the time--of course, the push pop always got all gooey and sticky, but we didn't care! They are such a weird candy, but of course, that’s what appeals to little kids. ~ Mae from Georgia
