Cinnamon Disks History

Cinnamon candy disks, also known as cinnamon discs or cinnamon buttons, have been a popular candy in the United States for many years.

The origins of cinnamon candy can be traced back to ancient times, when cinnamon was highly prized for its medicinal properties and its use in perfumes and incense. During the Middle Ages, cinnamon was used as a flavoring in sweet pastries and other desserts.

In the 1800s, hard candy became popular in the United States, and cinnamon was one of the most popular flavors. Cinnamon candy disks were often sold in general stores and candy shops, and were a favorite treat of children and adults alike.

In the early 1900s, the Ferrara Candy Company, based in Chicago, began producing cinnamon candy disks under the brand name "Red Hots." These small, spicy candies became an instant hit and remain popular to this day.

Today, cinnamon candy disks are still a popular candy, and are often sold in bulk at candy stores, convenience stores, and supermarkets. They are also used as an ingredient in recipes for desserts and other dishes.

Cinnamon Disks Memories

I remember going to my grandma's house when I was a little girl. She always had a candy jar on the table with which I was more than welcome to. I remember leaning my little body over the large wood and plastic covered table to get the jar which always "stuck" to the plastic protective table cloth.

I would then open the lid and inspect what candies were awaiting my savor today. My most favorite well to be honest has to be cinnamon flavored candies, today I have rediscovered my hilarious love of cinnamon thanks to local gas stations.

Cinnamon disks were the main choice of the cinnamon family, they weren't too hot because at that age I didn't prefer the strong flavor of fireballs yet, Although I would eat handfuls of red hots (Which is what I’m doing as I type this LOL!) I also would eat packs and packs of Big Red Gum. Now today I stuff fireballs and red hots and Big Red into my mouth. I just adore cinnamon its a great flavor! ~Haley from Virginia
