Cinnamon Bears Memories

In the early 50's I was a latch-key kid (although we didn't lock the house back then, so I never really had my own key). I would walk home from first grade, and while Mom and Dad were still at work I would search the house to find a penny.

Once I found one I would go down the block to the little neighborhood store and use the penny to buy two cinnamon bears. Yum! I loved them. Some days I couldn't find a penny, which would put a damper on my whole afternoon. Thinking back, I'm sure there were lots of other penny-candies in that little store, but the cinnamon bears are the only ones I really remember. ~ Corliss from Colorado
