Officially they are called Andes Creme de Menthe Thins, a candy with one mint-green layer sandwiched in between two chocolate-brown layers.

Andes Mints

Originally Andes Mints were called Andy's Candies by the inventor, Andrew Kanelos in 1921. Mr. Kanelos quickly discovered that men did not like giving boxes of candy with another man's name to their wives and girlfriends. The name was changed to Andes Candies and included a picture of mountains on the wrapper.
