"candy you ate as a kid" story?
Share it here. Some of my fondest memories are of my Grandmother. I was the last grandchild and my grandma was very old by the time I arrived. Our times together were special because she was in a chair for most of the day and couldn't get around or do activities with me. I would sit on her lap and she would reach into a huge chest that she kept beside her chair.
Oh, the anticipation of what she would bring out of that drawer was unbearable!! Most times I could rely on one thing for sure ... Spearmint Leaves! Oh, the joy and happiness for a snack with my Grandma. We'd sit there and eat spearmint leaves and watch a soap opera or I'd read a story to her out of a large-print Reader's Digest.
I'm thirty-three years old now and I still crave those wonderful sweet and gummy snacks Grandma gave me. I only have to smell one to have a flashback to my childhood. ~ Susanna from PA
