"candy you ate as a kid" story?
Share it here.Every summer my parents would drag my younger sister and brother and I all the way from Seattle to Pocatello, Idaho to visit my grandparents and other family members. Normally, the kids would sit around being bored and reading comics that belonged to my mom for 2 weeks while the adults gossiped.
One year, my aunt had extra tickets to the circus and we all went. There, she bought my sister and I our first Slap Stix sucker. It was so good, I'd never had anything like it. My sister and I walked to the little store up the road from my grandpa's house (it felt like a mile, but it was actually only a few blocks) every day and bought a Slap Stix sucker. We were so sad when we returned home to find out stores in our city did not carry this candy.
Every year after that, my sister and I would stock up on Slap Stix suckers at the little market up the street from my grandpa's house. On the visit we made when I was 13, I discovered even the little market had stopped carrying Slap Stix. My sister and I were mortified. Our favorite candy, gone! I'm so thankful your site has Slap Stix, I'm going to give my sister a box of them for Christmas. I'm sure she'll be pleasantly surprised. ~ Katie from Washington
