Saf-T-Pops memories... As a
child my mother was a stay at home mom until I started school. We
would often go out to run errands and I remember often times going
through the drive-thru teller lanes at the bank.
I loved going to the bank
because I always knew that after the transaction between grown-ups was
made, the bank teller in the window would send candy through the chute
just for me. Although this is still a common practice, I always felt
special when I would get my Saf-T-Pop.
I even remember once receiving
a birthday balloon with a Saf-T-Pop tied at the bottom to weigh it
down. I still enjoy this candy when I can. I am actually surprised
that I see stores selling bags of them still. ~ Morgan from Texas
When I was a kid me and my brothers use to go to the
bank in Llion, NY. the bank had a section with a rocking horse,
teeter-totter, and a lady that when you go out they give you a
lollypop.
One day they ran out of pops so they told us to wait and the guy that was there went and got pops with a loop. My dad asked what they were
and the guy said the greatest word of all, "SAF-T-POPS." From that day on I would see Saf-T-Pops all over the place in the stores and I use
to all ways go with my dad to the bank. ~ Tim from New York
When my brother and I were kids (in the 50's and early 60's, we would visit our Grandparents about
once a month. They lived in the country, about an hour away from our home. The drive seemed to take forever. We usually went on Sunday
morning, first attending services at the church our Mom was raised in. Then we would head to our grandparent's house.
Our Grandmother, whom we called Foo-Foo, would cook a huge dinner. Our Mom's family was of German
heritage, so we were served German/country type food. Foo-Foo always kept Saf-t-Pops in her cabinet, and we would be rewarded for eating our
dinner (or probably even if we didn't.) I remember being fascinated with the different colors and of course the yummy flavors. ~ Brenda from
Texas
