Red Hots memories... Red Hots invoke some great memories of my childhood. Growing up, my brother would always eat Red Hots. Being about 7 years older than me, he could handle the cinnamon taste much better than I could. I, on the other hand, would avoid them for the most part. Now and then, I would eat one, and my brother would laugh, as I would spit it out due to the strength of the cinnamon. Now, all grown up, I eat them frequently, and it always invokes memories of my brother. Whenever he comes over, I always have a big box of red hots waiting for him. ~ A.J. from Illinois

I remember in the early sixties getting Red Hots and how much I loved them. We had the "Little Store" across the street from our elementary school where we would buy candy and drinks. You know we had to keep our sugar level high for the teachers. LOL After we ate the Red Hots we would make music by blowing on the open end of the box. It just kinda hummed but we thought that was really cool. ~ Gary from Texas

When I was a little girl my Dad and I used to have Red Hot eating contests to see who could hold the most in their mouth at a time! We would start with one and then move to two and so on. I think we hit twenty-one and that was it, I mean I was only like seven, and my mouth couldn't hold anymore or I know I would have won !!

Today I am thirty and my Daddy is still here and we still when we find these candies buy hem all up and have our contest!! Now my mouth is bigger and I might stand a chance but thus far I haven't had any luck!! Dad is still pretty good when it comes to those taste buds and I don't know how he does it but I know it is something that I will always remember. ~ Doreen from New Jersey

Red Hots history

In the early 1930's, the Ferrara Pan Candy Company created the famous Red Hot using the cold panned candy method.  The idea of a piece of cinnamon hard candy was developed prior to the production of Ferrara Pan's Red Hots.  The name "cinnamon imperials" is a generic name used by the candy industry to indicate a piece of cinnamon hard candy.

Other Ferrara Pan candies are Atomic Fireballs, Boston Baked Beans, Jawbreakers and Lemonheads.
