Razzles memories... My 2
best friends and went to see the movie 13 Going On 30! It was funny
and sweet, but the thing we wanted to know more about was Razzles! Our
parents said they had Razzles as kids and we were dying to find them.
We found them and they our the best candy and gum EVER! What was so
amazing was that our Mom's ate Razzles together as kids and now we
do! I LOVE RAZZLES! ~ Alicyn from Massachusetts
Back in the seventies, I loved nothing more than spending the
weekend with my grandparents, Granddaddy and Mama Jo. There was a dime store
around the corner - one of those little stores usually ran as a "Mom and Pop"
outfit. If I was a "good girl" (which was funny, because I could do no wrong in
my grandparent's eyes), Mama Jo would take me to the store and let me pick out
one special thing. I always made a bee-line for the Razzles because the store
where I lived didn't carry them.
I can remember how the first one always tasted - I'd pick out an orange one, pop
it in my mouth, and chew. My mouth would water and I would have to fight the
urge to swallow the candy until it changed textures and formed a lump of gum. I
always chewed two pieces at a time, relishing every piece, folding the package
and putting it into my back pocket to keep it safe. To me, Razzles are a piece
of my childhood. ~ Kelly from Tennessee
When I was in elementary school, I was absolutely
addicted to gum. My mom didn't want me to chew it because she was sure
it would be dropped and ground into the carpet. I managed to (ever so
cleverly) get around that ban by having my Dad with me when I got my
weekly treat at the local candy store ... and I would always pick
Razzles and cover the part that said "...then it's gum!" and let them
both think it was just candy. 13 at heart, but having just turned 25,
13 Going on 30 brought back a lot of memories, but mostly, it made me
want to hunt down a package of Razzles! ~ Rebecca from New York
I remember in the mid- 80's when I was 13 I had lots and lots of Razzles everyday. My friend Matty used to carry them
around everyday. He was so into photography so he carries Razzles around and he used to pretend that I was a model for it and it was so fun.
At school I would always sneak out at lunch and around the corner from the school and they sold Razzles for like 50 cents a bag. This site
really brings back my memories. Razzles Rock! ~ Cedric from California
Oh dear sweetness you have Razzles! I came across your site while thinking back to my childhood and
as soon as I saw you had this chalky gum my eyes lit up. I haven't had these since my mother and I would go to Fay's drug stores after
church. As she would shop I would peruse the candy section up and down bypassing everything in search of those Razzles. I could never wait
to get in the car to eat them up. It is so nice to see that yesteryear can be shared again. Bless you folks!!! ~ Mike from Texas
