Pop Rocks memories... the best experience
with candy I've had involved pop rocks, a coke, and a certain little
lady in my life. I guess you could call it a date, not that we hadn't
been to the giant fiberglass ice cream cone by her house thousands of
times, but it's the best place to get a cheap lunch if you're walking.
We both knew the myth about how
pop rocks and soda will kill you if you mix them, so naturally we both
wanted to try it out. after a few handfuls of popping fun, filled my
mouth with watermelon candy, took a swig of coke, and before I knew
what I was doing I leaned over and kissed my darling girlfriend. pop
rocks, soda, and kissing is not the normal method of disproving an
urban legend, but it is definitely amazing. ~ Brian from

When I started in the first grade I fancied myself as being THE
coolest kid in school. As it turned out, so did every other boy in my
class. Within the first week all the kids fell into some sort of
"click" and I was kind of left out. I thought my life was over until
my mother came up with a wonderful idea.
My favorite candy was Pop Rocks
and my mom said if I would take some to school and share them maybe it
would break the ice and the other kids would see that I was really a
cool kid to hang around with. The next day went to school fortified
with a backpack full of Pop Rocks.
After lunch all the kids were on the playground and I walked up and
said 'hey, you guys ever try these?' After that day we all took turns
supplying the Pop Rocks and hung out all the time. All the other kids
called us the Pop Rock gang. By the way, I am still cool and I still
eat Pop Rocks!! ~ Eric from Missouri
Living in San Diego in the '70s, Pop Rocks were available in other parts of the country before I could buy them in a local
store. My grandma would mail them to me from her home in Arizona.
On a trip to Florida, I bought a whole box of Pop Rocks and sold them for a buck apiece to school friends. The very next week after I sold
my last packet, they became available in stores in San Diego. My friends who paid $1 for the 15-cent packets were not happy. ~ Evan from
California
