"candy you ate as a kid" story?
Share it here.My family arrived to the small (cold and snowy) town of Council Bluffs, Iowa in late December, 1979 as refugees from Laos. Our sponsors rented a 4-story mansion for our family of six, just down the alley from a drug store. We didn't know what to expect from our life in America, but I recall very vividly, running to the drug store to get the sweet and salty, soft and crunchy taste of Salted Nut Rolls.
I remember saving up my coins from what I found laying in the streets, to buy a Nut Roll for myself and my three sisters. Sometimes the store clerks would give me some for free, just to see the excitement in our eyes. I couldn't remember the name of that candy bar, until I finally found this site today. Thanks for bringing back the memories! ~ Laty from California
