Wax Bottles memories... Ahhhh, wax bottles. For me the memory this candy conjures up is one of traveling to Look Out Mountain in Ky. We stopped at a truck stop and my mom got me a pack of the wax bottles and bottle cap candy. I had a preference for the bottle caps. So I ate them first. Afterwards I started on the wax bottles. After the first one I was hooked. I chewed and chewed for at least thirty minuets on the first bottle. I mistook the wax for chewing gum. I then proceeded to try to blow a bubble. That was amusing and somewhat funny as the gob of wax shot out of my mouth and landed on the dash.

Funny but looking back on it there was actually a learning curve with wax bottles. Until I found your site I had given up on finding wax bottles. Now I can shot larger gobs of wax on my wife’s SUV dash :) -just kidding.

Thank you so much for allowing all us to reflect and remember a time when money was measured in the amount of candy we could get. ~ James from Florida

I remember always chewing and then swallowing bubblegum as a kid. My mom tried to get me to stop swallowing it by telling me that I would explode if I had enough built up in me. I didn’t believe her so I kept doing it anyway.

So one time my friend gave me a wax bottle and told me to drink it and then chew it like gum. So I did. Then just like gum I swallowed it. Not only did I swallow the wax, but I had also swallowed my loose tooth. I was so happy for that tooth to be gone. I stopped swallowing my gum after that because it was kind of painful. However, after that I was hooked on wax bottles. ~ Sam from South Dakota

Before we went to the movies we use to go to a store called Newbury's (it was similar to any other five and dime) to get all of our candy. At that time you were allowed to bring candy into the theatre. My favorite was the wax bottles because you would drink the contents and then you would have the wax to chew on through-out the whole movie!! There were 5 different flavors in one package and I loved all of the flavors.  Each of us had our favorite candies to take to the movies but I always went for the wax bottles first. ~ Susan from Massachusetts
