"candy you ate as a kid" story?
Share it here.Back in the '50s, we walked to and from school twice each day. We came home for lunch back then. On the way home we had to pass a small, neighborhood store called "The Cottage". When we could sneak out of the house with some change, we would stop and buy candies like Mexican Hats. It was double fun! The fun of doing something forbidden....buying candy, and the fun of eating the hats.
Years later my Aunt Rosie found a place to purchase them in bulk and would buy boxes of candy hats. She kept them in a special place in the bedroom. Every time we walked by the bedroom we would help ourselves. What a treat that was!! I'm happy to have found these childhood candies again. ~ Barbara from Nebraska
