Whoppers memories...

These were and still are my favorite
candy! In our local candy store in the 50's, Whoppers were sold loose...2
for a penny. My grandfather would give us a penny and we'd race to the
store.
One day, my father gave me a dime! I was
in my glory! Again I raced to the store and was so proud to be able to buy 20 of
them. I thought I was a big shot walking home with a whole bag of candy.
To this day, every time I eat Whoppers, I
think back to that day when I was "rich." ~ Marilyn from New Jersey
I was 10 years old in 1956 and I remember being addicted to whoppers. I used to help my Dad count his money and
one day he had a lot (maybe 30) of one dollar bills. When he wasn't looking, I stole $1.00. The first thing I did was go to the store and buy as many
whoppers as I could get for my (stolen) dollar.
Later that night Dad told me that he had (lost) one of his dollars and because of that....he couldn't pay the
electric bill that week. I started crying and told him what I did. Naturally he forgave me... and also taught me a valuable lesson. If I wanted
whoppers... I had to work for them. THAT'S when I started to clean the house and make my own money. Almost ALL of it went for whoppers. I still love
whoppers and now I buy them by the box. ~ Michele from Pennsylvania
I can sure remember the Whoppers, because the first few times that I ate them, I would hold them in my hand so
long that I usually ended up licking the Chocolate off my fingers and I still remember hearing my Mother telling me to please put them in my mouth and
not to hold them in my hand or she wasn't going to buy me any more. I soon learned that if I would take tiny, tiny bites all around the Whopper I
could get all the Chocolate off first and then have all the Malt melting ever so slowly in my mouth. Not only did I tell my 3 children how to nibble
off the chocolate first, but I also showed my 11 Grandchildren how and I hope someday they will show their children how to also. Thank You so much for
the Happy Memories. ~ Sandra from Michigan
