Sour Fruit Balls memories...

One of my greatest memories of my
grandmother's house was the beautiful candy dish she kept in the middle of
her dining room table full of sour balls. It was actually a very delicate,
beautiful serving dish with many arms. Instead of serving grown up items in
it, she served her grandchildren sour balls.
It was a two hour trip to my
grandmother's house and seemed to take forever in the back of a '75 station
wagon. My three brothers, one sister, and I used to run in her house, greet her
at the door with a kiss, and run straight to the candy dish in the middle of the
dining room table. To this day when I see sour balls, I think of my wonderful
grandmother and all the love she shared. ~ Angie from Kentucky
When I was a kid, about 10 years old, my
brothers and I played little league baseball in Lennox, CA, in the Lennox Little
League organization.
Our Grandpa went to every game. He always brought a bag of Sour Fruit Balls and
passed them out to everyone in the stands. Next game, he's buy another bag to
pass out. This happened every weekend throughout Little League season.
The concession stand probably didn't like
it much, since no one was buying THEIR candy... but the Lennox Little League
announced our Grandpa as "The Official Lennox Little League Grandfather" because
of his consistent support and for passing out the SOUR FRUIT BALLS at every
game! ~ Bill from Nevada
