Smoothie memories...

Smoothie

Growing up in Upstate New York, my two brothers and I were allergic to chocolate. To compensate, Gramma Holland would buy Boyer Smoothies for us. I remember excitedly unwrapping the Smoothies and competing for the highest Smoothie points on the cardboard underneath the Smoothies. We would save up the points and after we had collected 100 points, Gramma would send in the points cards and we would get free Smoothies in the mail!

After moving to New Mexico in the early 1970s, we could not get Boyer Smoothies except when we would go back to New York and visit Gramma. Sometimes when she came to visit us in New Mexico, she would bring us some Boyer Smoothies. Boyer Smoothies bring back fond memories of my brothers and sisters and of Gramma Holland. ~ Cami from New Mexico

My Grandpa used to visit me and my little sister every couple of weeks when we were little and he always had a paper bag full of family treats for us girls, and my Mom and Dad. Usually fruit for the kids, cigars for my Dad and hot cinnamon blocks for my Mom.

Gramps was a sweet, funny, jokester and we all loved seeing him and listening to all his interesting stories. We rarely were allowed to have candy so the day he pulled the pack of Smoothies out of his bag and handed them to me to share with my sister is forever in my memory. The wonderful taste of rich milk chocolate and smooth creamy peanut butter filled my mouth and put instant smiles on both of us. He gave us the little cardboard bonus points coin that was inside the Smoothies pack and told us to save them up and we could send for TEN FREE bars! WOW!!!

From that day on, whenever were were given a choice or opportunity to get a treat to share from the store, we requested Smoothies! My Grandpa also brought them many times in the family bag and my sister and I sent for free candy bars three or four times over the years. What a grand feeling to see the postman leave our little package of treats!!!

To this day I smile whenever I see them and always treat myself and my eleven grandkids to their delicious taste. Of course I give the kids the bonus points now and they still collect and turn in the points for candy and other great free prizes!!! ~ Sandra from New York
