Sky Bars memories...
I vividly remember Necco Sky Bars, growing up as a kid in
OHIO fifty years ago! In fact, yesterday, when some were passed out at work, as
an inservice prize, I sang the whole commercial:
"1-2-3-4 Sky-Bar,
What's the name of that bar?
The name is Necco Sky Bar."
"English toffee, yes, that's the one for me."
"I found fudge parfait, my favorite one of all."
"My favorite one is honey nougat."
"Peanut whip for me, peanut whip for me."
I don't remember the name of the tune, but it sounds rather British. I can still
sing the tune, too. Each of the flavors was sung by a different cartoon
person, endorsing their own favorite flavor! ~ Julie from Ohio
Just
when you think you know all there is about the man that you've
been married to for almost 50 years you learn something new.
Going down the *remember when we were kids and our favorite
candy trail* we discovered that back in the 40's and 50's the
candy bar we always had to buy at the movies was the Sky Bar. We
both ate each section carefully so that the other parts remained
whole and we both saved the best part for last... the caramel
because that was our very favorite! ~ Dorothy from New York
In 1957, when I was 9 years old, the Sky Bar was considered the coolest candy bar ever... Each nugget of chocolate contained a
different flavor, guaranteed to invoke envy among classmates when taking it out of my lunchbox. Okay, I didn't have one often, but when I did... I
felt like the Luckiest Kid in 4th grade! Back then, candy bars were a "treat" -- which is as it should be. Kids today have no concept of a
once-in-a-while goodie or a special reward of a Sky Bar from a favorite adult relative. But, oh, how I do! ~ Diane from Maryland
When we were kids, we had very little money so it was a grand treat when my grandfather would come to visit. I
remember walking up to Joe's Spa with my brothers and sisters and holding that one dollar bill tightly in my hand. My favorite was always the Sky Bar.
It was like having four candy bars in one. I would savor each piece since I knew I would wait for my grandfather's next visit to enjoy my next Sky
Bar. ~ Margaret from Pennsylvania
