Payday memories...

When my sister and I were growing up
there were many things that we couldn't eat because of food allergies.
Peanuts was one of them, or so I thought. My sister couldn't eat them so it
was assumed that neither could I since we were so alike.
When I was 20 years old I had allergy
tests and found out I was NOT allergic to peanuts after all. I made a bee-line
to the neighborhood store to have my very first candy bar. I picked out the one
with the very most peanuts imaginable. Of course it was a Payday. I have been
trying to catch up for years! There is nothing like your first candy bar and I
still cannot get enough of them! ~ Stephanie from Alabama
I remember as a child every afternoon,
after my daddy got off work he would walk down to the small store down the road.
Mother would always send me to tell him supper was ready. I still remember the
store. It's name was Jot Um Down and it had a sawdust floor.
Daddy would always give me money for
candy. And I remember getting the PayDay candy bars. I loved to eat the peanuts
off first then eat the center. That was back in the fifties, times sure have
changed but some of the candy still remains the same. I am still a PayDay lover.

My favorite was Payday. As a kid I would
walk with my grandfather to the neighborhood store and buy a Payday, a coke, and
some baseball cards. Still a kid in college, it was my lunch everyday as I
studied in the aerospace engineering classrooms.
It's perfect blend of salt and sugar, not
to mention the best looking wrapper, and it still appeals to me today. I do not
remember just how old I was but sometime during my youth I bought a t-shirt with
the Payday logo across the front. I know I wore that shirt out. ~ Barry from
Alabama
