Jolly Ranchers memories...

When I was a child we would go to my grandparents farm every weekend, My grandparents always had a big old fashioned milk can type of thingy full of
candy, I would ask my nanny for a piece of candy only to be told "no, that's for after lunch or after supper" My grandfather would always hear her
telling me this and would call me to help him in the barn where he would have a jar of jolly ranchers hidden in his tools. We would sit in the loft
and eat candy and talk for hours. When my grandfather passed away and we were going through his barn I found that jar full of Jolly ranchers hidden
right were he kept them. ~ Jenny from PA
Jolly Ranchers were the candy of choice for my sisters and I when we would walk to the convenience store near
our summer vacation house. The wrapper always pulled away from the candy reluctantly. They were in stick form, flat and about 1" wide, and would get
really sharp as you sucked on them. It was a bit of a feat, consuming the candy without slicing one's lip or poking one's tongue. My oldest sister
always got the "Fire" flavor, and I was so impressed with her bravery. When I watch my kids enjoy the bite size version of my childhood favorite, I
think about how easy they have it. ~ Patty from California
Jolly Ranchers were my favorite candy as
a child. My Mom would buy a big bag of mixed candy at the grocery store, put it
into a special jar, and my sister and I could always pick two pieces out after
we ate our dinner. I rarely chose any other candy - I was the one who picked all
of the Jolly Ranchers out of the jar!
When my sister and I were given a bit of
money, we would ride our bikes up to the convenience store by our house to buy
candy and treats, and my choice was always Jolly Ranchers - they last a long
time, and I could always save them for later. I ended up eating so many of them
once that I rubbed all the skin off the roof of my mouth! They still continue to
be a favorite treat to this day - in fact, as I write this, there is a big candy
jar FULL of Jolly Ranchers sitting on my desk! ~ Kerrie form Minnesota
