Goo Goo Clusters history continued...

There are many variations as to how the Goo Goo Cluster got its name, but the actual story goes like this. Mr. Howell Campbell used to ride a streetcar to work everyday. Soon after he developed his delicious new confection, word spread quickly about his tasty treat. People didn't know how to ask for or what to call this confectionery delight. Mr. Campbell was extremely excited that his newest concoction was the talk of the town, but even he, himself was baffled as to what to call his latest creation.

One day Mr. Campbell was discussing his dilemma with a fellow passenger on the way to work. The lady passenger, a school teacher, remarked that the candy bar is "So Good, People Will Ask For It From Birth!" Thinking about what the woman said, Mr. Campbell recalled the first sounds his newborn son made; Goo Goo!

Goo Goo Clusters were officially a hit and to promote his new Goo Goo Cluster candy bars, Mr. Campbell advertised them as "A Nourishing Lunch For a Nickel!" Obviously times have certainly changed from the 1920's and 30's! Parents of today wouldn't be too happy with their youngsters if they just ate candy bars for lunch. But back during the time of the depression, Goo Goos were a great value for the many folks that didn't have much money. Times change and so have prices, But Goo Goos still represent one of the best candy bar values available today!
