One memory of candy I have as a child is
a trip to a nursery farm. They had a small candy stand that me and my siblings
looked forward visiting while my mom shopped for stuff. One day I decided to be
brave and buy some Cry Babies, even though my older brother advised against it.
But they looked so delicious I couldn't resist.
So as we pulled out of the parking lot I
popped the gumball in my mouth and started to suck on its sour goodness. Soon my
cheeks exploded with the sourness and I couldn't take it anymore. I had nothing
to spit it into so I leaned over the back seat and spit it into the seat in
front of me. Leaving a nice big blue spot in the middle of the seat. The blue
spot remained there until the day we sold the van. ~ Lindsay from Delaware
I remember buying a jar of Cry Babies as
a kid, and I still look for them whenever I find a place that sells candy. Yes,
I still giddily shop for candy at 23! I could barely chew one at a time without
wimping out when I first started.
After a while, both my father and I worked
ourselves up to 3 or 4 at a time. People without this particular brand of sour
resistance thought we were crazy! The best part about the whole Cry Baby
experience of our past is that the memory of how sour these things were still
literally makes us salivate every time someone says "Cry Baby"! ~ Sam from

Cry babies are my favorite bubble gum. I
have many childhood memories of this extra sour treat. I am now 28 years old and
every time I have a cry baby I feel a little bit like a kid again. My best
friend and I use to walk to the store every day after we got off the school bus.
It was an old little neighborhood store with a lot of little candies. We would
get a cheap can of soda from a barrel of ice, a bag of chips, and of course a
handful of cry babies.
I remember the first time I had a cry
baby. I was about twelve years old. My friend gave me a few and kept staring at
me. I was wondering what she was up to. She said the green ones were the best. I
opened it and popped it in my mouth. She was smiling and looking at me for a
reaction. About 2 seconds went by and I puckered up and took it out of my mouth.
She then exploded with laughter. I said that is really sour! Then I put it back
in my mouth and chewed it until it became sweet.
From that moment on I made sure to get a
few cry babies every time I went to that store. I miss those days. At least I
can buy some cry babies here online at the Old Time Candy Company and enjoy my
favorite bubble gum still today. ~ Amber from Georgia
