Crows memories...

I can remember when my Mom would take
me to a Five and Dime and we would search the candy barrels through the
glass to find Black Crows. It was my first taste of black licorice and I
wasn't so sure about the sticky stuff on my teeth and tongue. She would buy
a small bag and put it up and have it once in a while. I would laugh when it
made her mouth black and try them again.
The neat part about it was my husband
whom I married loved them also and he and Mom would share the stash later on in
my life. I have looked for them for years and have never seen them locally.

When I was a little
girl I was a Crows fanatic. My grandfather sold them behind the counter of his tavern. Every Sunday we would visit and I would be so anxious driving
up, knowing I would get a free box.
Twenty some years later, when I got married, I found out my husband was a Crows fanatic too. Every time that we
occasionally came upon them in a store we would grab them. When my grandfather, was ill, before he passed away, my husband and I visited him. And sure
enough, behind the counter of the tavern were My Crows. He passed away and it was the only time my husband was able to meet him.
Thirty years later I am just blown away to find a web site that not only sells Crows, but let's me express what
they meant to me in memories. And, yes, I remember the old box. Thank you! ~ Polly from Florida
As a favorite treat my father would take my mother to the movies on a Saturday night date. All seven of my
brothers and sisters would line up and my mother would make a list as to what candy they should bring home to guarantee our good behavior. By far, it
was Black Crows that was most in demand. On Sunday morning, we all would be up waiting in my parents' room for our treat of Black Crows. ~ George from

Oh my gosh. Mason Black Crows. What a
memory! My mother is long passed, but I swear Crows bring back the fondest
memories of all. That wonderful red and green cellophane-wrapped box! She would
buy the boxes back in the 60's and 70's, practically by the crate! She would
stash boxes all over the house, like a squirrel stashes nuts! I would find the
boxes in a dresser drawer, above the washer and dryer, in a high kitchen
cabinet, in a closet; you name it, there was a large box of Crows there!
And I would discover the trail and snitch
a few from one box, and a few from another box, and a few from another box, and
on and on. Now, snitching 4 crows from twelve secretly stashed boxes makes for
one black tongue and set of black teeth, not to mention a seriously worrisome
stomach!!! There is no such thing as 'sneaking' Crows!!!! Ha!
And sometimes me and Mom would sit there
together and polish off a whole box between us in one sitting! Licorice just is
NOT licorice, unless it's Crows. And I come from a long line of Crow Snitchers!!
Once a black tongue, always a black tongue.. LONG LIVE CROWS!!!! ~ Michele from
