Canada Mints memories...

When my sisters and I were
young back in the late 50's and early 60's my father was in the Air
Force. He used to wear one of those olive green silky Airmen's
jackets with all the many pockets in them. There were pockets inside
and outside the jacket and some of them had zippers on them.
Some of the pockets were large and
some were small. My father would come home from work and hang his jacket on the
banister at the bottom of the steps in our house and in one of the pockets would
be a package of the pink Canada mints that we loved. We would have a wonderful
time searching through all the pockets in the jacket until we found the mints.
I would always eat mine then and there
but my little sister would always save hers for later and we would try to
bargain with her to share hers with the rest of us who had already eaten theirs.
I still have fond memories of those days and those Canada mints. I tell this
story to my daughter who is now an airman herself. Hopefully one day I will have
grandchildren who can search their mom's jacket for the mints. ~ Jeanette from
West Virginia
When I was 8 years old in New England my
grandfather came to live with us after my grandma died. Every day grandpa made
his 3 mile walk to town and would return with his provisions, which always
included Canada Mints. I loved them and when Grandpa held out his hand to offer
me some he always asked, "Have you been a good girl," Of course I always
answered timidly, "Yes".
I never wanted to miss getting my Canada
mint, they are so good and I remember them and my grandfather so fondly. ~ Bette

As a child my dad came home everyday with
a box of Canada Mints for for my brother and I. We would enjoy everyone we had.
Then with the empty boxes my brother and I would make whistles and have contests
to see who could be the loudest.
I have been looking for these mints for
years. I am absolutely ecstatic that I found them. I didn't realize that they
had gone from a box to a roll, I was really shocked.
Thanks for bringing me back to my
childhood memories and giving us great mints to enjoy. ~ Donna from New
Hampshire
When I was a little girl in Cambridge,
Massachusetts, right at the end of WWII, I would attend church services with my
Mom every Sunday. Being six years of age, I had trouble sitting still during the
entire service. Mom always had a box of Canada Mints in her purse and could be
depended on to let me have two or three during the sermon.
My Mom passed away
six years ago and I haven't seen Canada Mints for years now, but when I do they
instantly transport me to the back pew of that old Baptist Church, worshipping
and sharing mints with my Mom. ~ Bette from Idaho
