Bubble Tape memories...

Bubble Tape

Bubble Tape Gum-- Oh boy! This gum was delicious as a child but it sure got my sister and I into trouble. I remember my sister and I would get our own Bubble Tape Gum and have bubble gum contests. What was the goal? To see who could get the largest wad of gum into our mouths, chew it and then make a bubble.

I would always out perform her. One time I managed to get almost the entire bubble tape gum into my mouth, a little at a time, and my jaw was SO sore. Then my mother found out what we'd done with the gum and was so mad she made us spit the entire thing out and sent us to our rooms. P.S... didn't stop us -- we just got smarter about hiding the gum from her! P.P.S- nowadays they have the newer stuff and I give my children a little and HIDE the rest (haven't told them of my mischievous former life). ~ Beth from Indiana

When I was a little girl I would always look forward to visiting my grandpa and grandma. When we arrived at their house, my grandpa would surprise us kids with candy he bought just for our visit. Although we didn’t visit very often, because he lived far away, he’d try to keep the candy different every time, but he knew that bubble tape was my favorite.

After he passed out a piece to each of us after dinner, he would tell us that he was going to save the rest for the next time we came to see him. I’m almost positive that he ate it himself when we left, since the gum got old quickly, and it there would always be a full container on our return to his house. ~ Jane from Minnesota
