Bubble Gum Cigarettes memories...

I LOVE your site! Just seeing the picture
of the candy cigarettes brought back the memory of myself and 3 other cousins
who used to do chores around our grandma's house to earn a quarter which we
would then spend at the corner candy store. We would always get bubblegum
cigarettes and thought we were so cool standing there blowing the powder out the
other end.
One day my uncle saw us and decided it
was time to teach us all a lesson. He gave us each a REAL cigarette and asked us
to tell him how we liked them. Well, after ONE puff, we all turned green to the
gills and after that we all stuck to the candy variety from then on. It's been
30 years and none of us smoke anything but the candy kind! ~ Stephanie from

I grew up an Army brat.
My father would go off to serve his country and left my mother, sister, & I
here. He went oversees and walked into this drugstore that sold bubble gum
cigarettes. During those times we didn't carry a lot of variety when it came to
candy, etc. So he decided to mail me a box of 5 to 10.
I remember it became a routine, every
time he would leave us to the call of duty. I recall stopping him before he left
and reminding him to send those bubble gum cigarettes. And sure enough I would
find myself running to the mailbox everyday awaiting there arrival. The main
thing (besides it being an item no other child had) was that the gum blew out
smoke like a real cigarette. I use to show off to all the kids that I was all
grown up. ~ Lisa from Texas
Like most stories I have read, I remember being a small child and LOVING the Bubble Gum
Cigarettes. I was number five of six kids and the sister right above me loved them too, and of course I wanted to be just like her! My favorite ones
were the ones that you could do one good puff of smoke before you ripped off the paper and dug into the gum.
Although this story is not a very unique one, what I plan on doing now, that I have found the cigarettes again, is the unique part. My sister is now
in the 82nd airborne of the United States Army. Currently she is serving her third tour of duty overseas. First, she was in Afghanistan, then Iraq,
and now IRAQ AGAIN! The other two tours were over 6 months long and this one is said to be at least 1 year! Being gone has caused her to miss
birthdays (including her own) and all special holidays, including Christmas which is her favorite holiday. Anything, even the little things, I can do
to liven her spirit while she is serving out country I will do. I know that sending her these bubble gum cigarettes will definitely serve as a
reminder of her family and her childhood and bring her happiness as she serves our country!
God Bless Tiffany!!!! ~ Courtney from Florida
