Bazooka Bubble Gum memories...

When I turned five I decided that it was
time for me to learn how to blow bubbles. My mother was not real keen on the
idea, but my father thought it was great.
One day my father came home with a big
bag of Bazooka Bubble Gum and I was the happiest little girl in the world. I
would chew and chew, because daddy told me I had to get all the sweet out of it
in order to blow a bubble. I enjoyed the taste of my Bazooka Bubble Gum so much
that I didn't mind that part at all.
After about a week of blowing my bubble
gum across the floor and taking it in my fingers and spreading it out over my
tongue I finally got it. At first they were little bubbles and then the big day
arrived. I blew a gigantic bubble and went running in to show my daddy. As I ran
the bubble spread and by the time I got to the living room it had popped and it
was all over my face and hair!
My mother worked for hours trying to get
it all off and finally I had to have my long blonde hair cut. My mother was
devastated, but I was just happy that I had accomplished my goal. I guess back
then it was a right of passage to becoming a "big kid".
My little girl will soon be five and I
will supply her with that same Bazooka Bubble Gum that I loved so much (and
still do), but I will make sure her hair is pulled up and away from her face. ~

I cannot remember a time when I did not love Bazooka Bubble Gum. I once bought some very expensive shampoo
at a salon just because it smelled like bubble gum!
When I was a kid there was a little luncheonette right next door to our church. They had a big candy counter and every Sunday between Sunday
School and Church I would buy a piece of Bazooka for 1 penny. Of course, I wasn't allowed to chew it during the church service (but I tried).
The love affair continued as I got older. My first full-time "real" job after college was in a hospital laboratory in NJ. The gift shop at the
hospital sold Bazooka by the piece - I think it was 5 cents. Every day after lunch I would drag my co-workers to the gift shop so I could get my
Bazooka fix. This went on for several years.
When I left that job to move to PA they gave me a big jar filled with Bazooka as a going-away gift. They
thought I wouldn't be able to find Bazooka in PA! I'm happy to say that they were wrong. Twenty five years later I am still buying Bazooka and
enjoying it. ~ Lynne from Pennsylvania
I always loved the Bazooka Joe Bubble gum and jokes I believe Veronica was my favorite character My cousin
Jeremy and I would argue over who got the best joke back then if I remember correctly you could buy a piece of Bazooka Bubble Gum for a few cents.
Times sure have changed but the best things remain the same! ~ Ericka from Texas
My fondest candy memory is "Dubble Bubble Gum" that my father used to sell at his candy store in Clifton NJ. I
would spend my Saturday mornings and summers watching all of the vendors drop off their goods and the children running in to buy their favorite candy.
I used to wait for the "Dubble Bubble Gum" man to come and deliver my favorite pink, chewy, huge bubble blowing gum! Even though my father has passed
on and his store is no longer around, I can just blow a bubble with my favorite gum and be a kid once again. ~ Dana from New Jersey
I remember Bazooka Bubble Gum when I was
a kid. My best friend and I would walk to the corner candy store and buy a box
of the gum with our allowance. It only cost 50 cents, so we would each give a 25
cents toward the treat. We could chew the gum as we peeled off the comics. Then
we'd roll the comics into paper beads and string them onto yarn to make
necklaces.
All the other kids in the neighborhood
were so jealous and asked us to make them one. We'd charge 10 cents, and that's
how we could afford the bubblegum all summer long! ~ Amber from Michigan
