Abba Zaba memories...

When I was a small child my best friend and I used to walk down about 2 miles along a beach to a
little tiny store where the best thing was always inexpensive candy, and we always bought Abba Zebras and bubblegum cigarettes. Which we
chewed while we sat on the beach before our long hike back.
One day on the car ride to my friends house her mother stopped there to pick up some unknown to me food. While
we spent our 50 cents on Abba Zabas her older brother bought about 10 of them. We not being patient happily ate ours on the ride home. He of course
saved them and stashed them in his room when we returned. While he was out doing chores, us like any other 7 year old children had to have more Abba
Zaba. So as stealthily as we could we crept in and stole one.
We bolted and he saw through the window as we ran down the street we somehow decided it would be best to
consume the delicious candy so he should not have it so we would there for win. Being our only option we ripped open the package, each grabbed an end
and pulled. We must have been at least 5 feet apart before it split and the brother caught up and screamed at us. So now every time I have an Abba
Zaba I can have that sweet taste of victory. ~ Anna from Washington
In the 1970's it wasn't until High School that we had the option of buying sweets at school. My best friend and
I loved to buy a chocolate milk and an Abba Zabba once a week and sit outside in the sun during lunch. We would place the Abba Zabba on the sidewalk
and let the sun and the hot concrete warm it up. When it was warm and somewhat gooey we would peel off the wrapper, bite off one end and blow up the
candy like a balloon. Then we could lick the peanut butter out and alternate with the cold chocolate milk. MMMMM PB and chocolate! Then a bite of
taffy and repeat! ~ KimMarie from California
