Do you have a favorite "candy you ate as a kid"
story? Share it here.
I live in Florida and grew in the Caribbean. We were very very poor and candy was a luxury saved for very special occasions. Wouldn't you know there was a candy store rig
ht on a corner that we had to walk past every day as we went back and forth to school. It was torture!!One day, I believe I was around 8 or 9, I snuck into my Auntie Helen's purse and took a quarter. I ran straight to that store (It was called the "Minnie Mouse House", I'll never forget that name!) and I got a huge bag of my ultimate favorite candy Mary Janes! Not being the brightest of thieves I walked right into the house with my ill gotten gains in full view.
As You can imagine I was questioned as to where I could have gotten the money to buy that big bag of Mary Janes. It did not take me very long to crack and I was given a good old fashioned "switching" complete with having to go into the yard and pick my own switch and I had to give all the rest of my booty to my little brother and sister.I still chuckle every time I think about or taste these awesome candies. Mary Janes candy helped to set me back onto the straight and narrow and may have averted me from a desperate life of crime and mayhem! ~ Vivienne from Florida
