Marshmallow Cones memories...
Back in the early 60's when I was very young, there was a
Cincinnati-based children's program called "The Uncle Al Show." Many
times when children lost a game to their peers who were awarded with
nice prizes, Uncle Al would stick a Marshmallow Cone into the mouths
of the "defeated" child to take back with them to their seats in the
"grandstand." It made them feel that they walked away winning
something and perhaps it also kept them from bawling/making a scene
since their mouths were stuffed full! ~ Rose from Ohio.
When I was in grade school in the mid to
late 60's in Cliffside Park, New Jersey, I can remember buying
Marshmallow Cones from the Nuns at my grade school (Epiphany) for a
penny a piece. All the kids in the class would bring their pennies to
school. I would buy as many as the Nun would allow me. Over the years
I would think of these candies and tell stories to others reminiscing
about them. What a nice surprise to see they are still available. You
made my day! Thanks! ~ Randy from Arizona
My father was I truck driver
when I was a child. He use to delivery to a company that distributed
marshmallow cones. I loved them so much that the distributor would
sell them to him at a very discounted rate. He would buy a bag or
two at a time. Now these bags were the average kitchen size garbage
and they would be as full as he could get them.
My mother would have to hide
them from me because I could finish a whole bag in a day or two. For
years I couldn't find them and no I can only find them on the
internet. I have learned self control as an adult. Thanks for
selling one of my favorite goodies from childhood!! ~ Melissa from
Ohio
When I was a kid, my
grandmother would buy these incredible marshmallow ice-cream cones
for me, my siblings, and 6 cousins. We loved them and would wait all
summer long to have them. You see, the only place we could find them
was in a small, old, general store in upstate NY where my family
rented a bungalow in the summer. She would buy as many as she could
each time we visited.
More often than not, we ate
them all day and never wanted dinner. It got to the point that the
adults would take them and put them up on top of the fridge; and
more often than not, we would find them eating them too! They are
impossible to resist and I am so glad to have found them! ~Michele
