Licorice Scottie Dog
memories... My father suddenly passed, away and on my weekly trip to
check in on Mother, I noticed a gift box of Licorice Scottie Dogs on
the dining room table and and elderly gentleman sipping tea in my
Father's Chair.
I whispered to Mother in the
kitchen, "Mom, Dad is not even cold in his grave and already you
have a suitor?" Mom whispered back in her strong Irish accent,
"Dear, he's cold enough!"
To this day, I love the Licorice Scottie dogs, but as for Mom's
suitor... "Beam him out, Scottie!" ~ Helen from Maryland
My most cherished memory of
when I was just a young girl in Manhattan was my Scottish Terrier
dog named Sue, after my favorite child time movie, Curly Sue. Every
Friday evening when Dad would just fire up his cigar, Mom would
round the corner with a handful of Scottie Dogs. She would say "Sue,
Sue. Come get your treat." Sometimes, if I was good enough, I would
get to eat a Scottie along with Sue. Licorice was and always will be my favorite candy. That they made
this into a cute little reminder of my best friend Sue, will always
be most important to me. Thank you! ~ Mary from Colorado
When I was a little girl
every Friday night we would watch the Brady Bunch followed by the
Partridge Family. At one point during a commercial my Dad & I would
jump up out of our seats and head to the car for a Slurpee Run. We
would go to 7-11 and bring back cherry Slurpees for the whole
family. As part of this Friday night ritual we would always drop
Licorice Scottie Dogs in our Slurpees and let them freeze. Our jaws
were tired by the 5th or 6th Scottie Dog. Cherry Slurpees and
Licorice Scottie Dogs still remind me of My Dad and those wonderful
Friday nights we spent as a family. ~ Carol from California
