| Growing up in New York City, where there was practically a candy store on every corner I always seemed to find the best candy at my Grandmothers. Every summer afternoon from about the age of 8 till well into my teens, after playing handball with the local kids I'd stop in and visit my grandmother. Sometimes there was an aroma of fresh cookies, sometimes aroma of those wonderful marshmallow square BUT what she always had was a dish of Jelly Rings on the coffee table. Jelly Rings were her ultimate favorite candy! I always felt bad to ask for one because there was always just a few and I knew how much she loved them, so secretly when she wasn't looking I'd sneak one... okay okay maybe two. Sadly at the age of 16 my family and I moved to Maine. One January afternoon I came home from school and I saw a package on my doorstep addressed to me. I opened it, and can you guess what was inside? Yes, that's right a big box of Jelly Rings from my grandmother and a note attached. Till this day I still have that note and now I share Jelly Rings with my grandchildren. Ahhh grandmothers how they make childhood memories so amazing! ~ Sophie from Maine |
