Horlick's Malted Milk Tablets memories...
I have been looking for this candy for YEARS!!! Literally. I am 32 and
as a young teenager my mom would buy a bottle of these "pills" before
we went to the play or the symphony (and that was often). I would eat
the most of (or the whole) bottle during the show. I would come home
feeling a little sick, but very happy! Now that I have re-discovered
my old favorite I am going to share it with all of the people who
don't know this candy and think I am crazy when I try to describe it.

Hello, I was visiting with my cousin the other day for the
first time in many years, when our thoughts turned to our childhood
and things that we ate, and I almost immediately remembered Horlicks
Malted Milk Tablets! So here I am searching the web to find out if
they are still available. I'm in my early 50s, and I grew up with
Horlicks tablets as did my parents! My mother would pour a few in my
hand when I was a child, I may have been about 7 or 8 and older, and
she would exhort me to suck on them so that they melted in my mouth,
but usually I couldn't just suck them.
I recall they were somewhat
durable tablets and didn't melt easily in my mouth. This was good,
because they seemed to last a long time. I often took a small packet
of them with me in my pocket when I went roller skating or bike
riding. I remember that even though I would sometimes suck on them, I
knew it was only because I could bite into them whenever I wanted to
for the flavor burst. As a matter of fact, I would "sort of bite" into
them lightly to feel it start to crumble in my mouth, while still
sucking the tablet chunks. But most of the time, I bit into them for
the burst of malt flavor. And then, I'd go back to my mother for more.
One of the things I remember
most about eating Horlicks tablets was how they would stick to my back
teeth after I chewed them, and then I'd have to pick it out--and there
was another burst of flavor. I had managed to find Horlicks tablets on
a recent trip to London, but they were made in the Far East and just
didn't have the same flavor as the originals. The original ones were
distinctive and rich in flavor. I'm glad to know they're still around!
