Gum Drops memories... Gum drops remind me of Christmas as a child. My mother used to have a porcelain
Christmas tree with holes for inserting toothpicks. My brother and I had a tradition of sticking gum drops on the end of the toothpick to
decorate the tree. The gum drops looked like colorful round ornaments. We could then eat whichever gum drops were left over.
It was such fun to decorate that tree and then anticipate eating the ornaments after the holidays. I
will always look back fondly on our little tradition. I was pleased to discover the gum drops on this website, so I can decorate the tree
this next holiday season. ~ Ellen from Georgia
In all my 54 years, my
favorite candy has always been the large gum drops. There were six
siblings in my family so Mom used to buy everything in quantity. We
used to gather us all together and go to the drive-in movie shows.
We had a big station wagon and we always took our own candy and
popcorn. I had to fight with my brothers and sisters to get my
favorite pieces of Gum Drops.
I loved the black ones that
taste like licorice and the red for their cherry flavor. But I
wasn't the only one who liked the black gum drops. So every time we
got some, it was like a war. Every time I see Gum Drops, I think of
those days. And, I still eat them! ~ Connie from Iowa
