Gum balls memories...
I remember sitting on the back of my dad's truck with the
tailgate down while he drove slowly and Silver, our family horse would
follow faithfully after me... just to get as many pieces of Bubble Gum
Balls I would give her.
I never saw her
blow a bubble, but she could chew at least twenty pieces before my dad
would notice her following and tell me (again) not to give her any of my
Gum Balls. Little did he know, that's why I wouldn't share them with
anyone else. Silver was my best friend and she deserved as many as I
could give her. ~ Kristen from California
When I was about 5 years old, my
brother and I would walk down to the filling station and buy gum from
their gumball machine. The first time I remember seeing this globe,
filled to the brim with colorful gumballs, I was hooked. The machine
also gave out "striped" gumballs from time to time. If you were
fortunate enough to receive a striped gumball you could exchange it for
a fifty-cent piece. Excited beyond belief, we would usually split the
money. WOW! Gum and a shiny new coin. We thought we'd never be so rich.
In many ways, I think we were right. ~ Eric from North Carolina
During the summer when the circus
came to town, I religiously attended every show. My favorite game was
the Dunk tank where you throw a ball at a button and if you hit it, a
man dunks into a bucket of water. Well, whenever I actually hit the
button, I was given a rather large bag of gumballs. It didn't take me
long to finish that bag off, but I loved every minute of it. I even own
a gumball machine in my house! ~ Cindy from Texas
