"candy you ate as a kid" story?
Share it here. After seeing the movie Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, I wished with all my heart that a candy like the Everlasting Gobstopper actually existed. My parents didn't really believe in letting me have candy, so I thought that Gobstoppers would solve my problem, because I could always eat the same candy, and always be satisfied.
Well, lo and behold, my neighbor at the time told me about a wonderful candy store with all sorts of yummy treats - wax bottles, Fun Dip, flying saucers - and of course, Gobstoppers. She brought home a package of Gobstoppers for me once, knowing my parents didn't buy me candy and I was ecstatic. Granted, they weren't "Everlasting" but they lasted long enough. When I had my first one, I would take it out of my mouth periodically to see what color it had changed. It simply delighted me so much... and now an adult, I can buy all the candy I want, and Gobstoppers remain one of my favorite. ~ Elisabeth from California
