"candy you ate as a kid" story?
Share it here. When my sister and I were young we used to go with our mom every weekend to Rochester, Michigan to the bank. Quite often we would go to Washington, Michigan to the Little Country General Store which carried all the old candies. Mom would tell us girls to go ahead and pick out a couple things which was great cause everything was priced the way it was in the old days you know penny candies and such.
While my sister would get a bunch of penny candies I would always get the Country store taffy. It was my favorite. I loved putting it in the freezer then breaking it into little pieces to make it last. my sister would want some so we would share her penny candies and my taffy. That was a really happy time for us. Since I have tried to find the Country Store Taffy and have not been able to when I saw your site I was very happy to see that you carried it.
I remember the wonderful taste and how thin it was which I think made it taste better. It almost melted in your mouth. Just writing here about it I can taste it. I have never found anything to come close to the flavor since. When we would get home all of our friends wondered where all the good taffy came from. It was not sold where we lived. This is just one of the many fond memories I have about a candy no longer easy to find. It brings a smile to my face just thinking of it. Thank you for a happy memory. ~ Mel from Michigan
