Coconut Haystacks memories... I
grew up on a large dairy farm and when you live on a farm it is
natural to lean towards things that you can associate with the life
you live. My father, for as long as I can remember ate Coconut
Stacks.
When he would get done with the
chores he and I would sit on the porch and he would say 'Jody it's
time to tear into the haystacks' then he would smile and reach in his
overall pocket and pull out a bag of "Haystacks". Now, when I go to
see him it is I who have the "Haystacks" in my pocket. We still sit on
the porch and we still tear into the "Haystacks". Thank you for a
wonderful candy and a wonderful memory. ~ Jody from Missouri
Coconut Haystacks were the most
popular candy in our house at Christmas time back in the 50's and
60's. My sisters and I waited eagerly every year to get that
delicious coconut candy that we loved so much! Not only did we girls
love it, but our parents and grandparents loved it, as well. When I
stop to think about the fondest memories I have as a little girl,
the one that comes to mind first is our family enjoying those
delicious Coconut Haystacks together at Christmas time!
As an adult, I continue the
tradition in our household. They continue to be very popular with
our children and grandchildren. But I have to confess, we do not
wait till Christmas comes around to enjoy them. We enjoy them all
year 'round! Coconut Haystacks are the best coconut candy ever made!
