Cinnamon Bears memories... When
I was a young child my favorite thing was to go over to my
grandmothers house as she always had those special goodies my Mom &
Dad wouldn't keep in the house.
She had this crystal candy dish on her family room table, you never
did know what you would find in it but most times it was Red
Cinnamon Bears. I remember all of us kids gorging ourselves on those
bears. I also remember our hands being slapped by our parents
because we had eaten the whole dish full.
Her candy dish probably had
50 bears in it. To this day I have had such a hard time finding my
old time favorites and wonder why most stores don't carry them. But
I was more than happy to find these and others that bring back so
many great memories when I was a kid. ~ Kimberly from Texas
Being a child with peanut and
treenut allergies, boxes of chocolate were not the norm for
Valentine's Day at our house. Every year my father brought me a few
bags of cinnamon bears (it seemed they could only be found around
Valentine's Day) and new hair ribbons or barrettes to celebrate "his
little Valentine". I still have the red velvet heart-shaped box he
refilled every year on my dresser and whenever I feel nostalgic, I
open the lid and take a whiff of my childhood. During my last
pregnancy, I started craving these sweet and spicy goodies and my
darling husband searched high and low to find them. Knowing my
father's Valentines tradition, he snuck my box out that morning and
brought it home that evening, filled with cinnamon bears. Like my
husband, these cinnamon bears are sweet, spicy and very rare. I'm
lucky to have had two such men in my life. ~ Leigha from North
Carolina
Growing up, I spent a lot of
time at my grandparent's house, mostly because I had time alone with
them-without my sister or brother around! My grandfather still was
traveling for work at that time and I would always make sure to be
at their house when he would come home.
He always brought home a bag
of candy from the airport. I would dump the bag into a dish and
immediately dig out all of the cinnamon bears. I would hide
somewhere in the house for the next hour until all of those bears
were gone. And I never did share with my siblings! ~ Molly from New
Jersey
