Chupa Chups memories... The first time
I ever had a Chupa Chup was in my high school freshman Spanish class.
If we won at "7-up" or "bingo" she would give out Chupa Chups as a
prize. My favorite flavor was the strawberry banana. I can still
remember asking her "Tengo un Chupa Chup por favor?" and she would
gladly give me one. ~ Shannon from Massachusetts
My name is Ashley and
I am 13 years old. When I was only 6 years old I lived with my mom,
grandparents, aunt, and uncle. I always wanted to be just like my Aunt
Stacey.
One day she came home with one of those
big buckets of Chupa Chups. Every night I would go in her room ands
ask for one. Every time I did, she said no. I got so mad that she
wouldn't let me have any. So one night while she was at a party I
snuck in her room and ate all the suckers that were left in the
bucket.
She came home the next morning and
found the empty bucket in her room. She was so mad at me that she was
yelling for me and couldn't find me. She came into the bathroom and
found me sick on the floor.
Ever since then I have felt so bad for
her and her Chupa Chups. I want so bad to get her another bucket of
suckers for us to share. I believe that in this experience we both
learned a lesson. She learned not to be stingy and I learned to not
eat so much candy at one time. ~ Ashley from North Carolina
Chupa Chups hold a special place in our hearts. Our Children (Slava and Elena) were born in
Russia. A few days after becoming a "forever family", on our way home to USA, we decided a treat for the trip would be nice. Candy is
special and rare in Russia, so we were surprised they knew exactly what they wanted by name. Chupa Chups remain a family favorite and remind
us of our family's special anniversary! ~ Mama from Michigan
I grew up in the city of
Paterson and had a little Spanish tienda (store) across the street
from my house. I was one of 5 children and times were hard. I
remember walking around the corner looking for change people would
drop, or going to all of my elderly neighbors to see if they needed
anything from the store so that I could make a nickel or dime.
When I had enough, my sister
and I would go into the Spanish store and Jose and Crisensio the
owners, would bring a big plastic jar to us filled with Chupa Chups
in all kinds of exotic flavors. The smiles on our faces and our wide
opened eyes could have lit up the entire city. We made it a point to
try a new flavor every time we had the chance. I can still taste the
soft centers.
The perfect sweetness of
those Chupa Chups makes my mouth water. I still buy them today; and
on every birthday and holiday I always give my sister who is now in
her late 30s a Chupa Chup taped to her gift. She looks forward to
it. I also tape them to my nieces and nephews gifts and my son's. ~
