Choward's memories... Well, it is a funny
story now but at the time it was embarrassing. I babysat for a
neighbor once and she had Choward's violets mints on the table. I
figured it was ok to try one and it was delicious and tasteful. By the
end of the night I had loved them so much that I figured she wouldn't
mind and I ate them. That night she said "wow" you smell
nice...??? The scent was overwhelming and it stayed on me. After that I
realized that those were the best breath mints ever and till this day I
feel the same way. ~ Maritza from Florida
My grandmother
always chewed Choward's scented gum. Whenever we'd go to her house,
I'd always ask for a piece. She carried a box in her apron pocket all
the time, and would reach in and pull out that purple and silver box.
Getting that gum was more special than any other candy grandma had
because it was her favorite. Just chewing it made me feel warm and
safe because it was SO grandma. She even smelled like it when I hugged
her! Several years ago my sister and I saw some for sale at a
newspaper stand. As soon as I started chewing it and my sister caught
a whiff of it, she said, "Wow, that smells like grandma". It was a
"warm fuzzy" for us the rest of the day. ~ Kim from Texas
When I was five years old my mother went back to work; I had just started half day
kindergarten and would need a sitter for after school. My new sitter would be a little old lady at the end of the block I had never met
before. I don't remember much about her or the times I spent at her house. I do though, remember; being very frightened and hiding in a
corner behind a chair for a long time. She couldn't talk me out so she lured me out with Choward's violet mints.
First she gave me one, then another, then she set another on an end table, then two more a little
further away on the coffee table and sat near them on the couch with two more packs in her hand. First she used Choward's violet mints to
build trust then friendship. Everyday after school I would get my treat of Choward's violet mints. Every time I smell them I feel like I'm
five years old all over again!
I'm thrilled to have found them so I can now share them with my daughter who is now five years old
and start memories of our own with them and their wonderful smell. ~ Leslie from Wisconsin
When I was about 8 years old, my old school friend used to always bring Choward's Violet Mints to
school. I remember the smell precisely. They were my favorite mints because I always loved the smell of violets and still do. So, I used to
always ask her for one piece just so I can smell like perfume.
She was always so greedy. She would tell me to go buy my own pack. It was hard to find the mints just
anywhere. Certain little marts sometimes had them and a few of the major shopping stores, such as Rite Aid. Whenever I found them, I would
buy a whole box because I knew I wouldn't find them anywhere else.
Now, 11 years later, whenever I go to work and my co-workers smell my breath they are always asking
me where they can buy the famous Choward's Violet mints. Others say they taste like soap but I think they are a hint of Heavenly desserts. ~
